Verbo Ministries Ecuador
Verbo Ministries began in 1976 when 5 families from Gospel Outreach arrived in Guatemala to help rebuild after a devastating earthquake which left 40,000 dead and over 300,000 homeless. Working side by side with poor Guatemalan families, they were used by the Lord not only to rebuild houses but lives. As they shared the gospel message hundreds and then thousands gave their lives to Christ, including people from the middle and upper classes. It was a mighty, sovereign move of God which has grown to include over 100 churches in 12 countries, as well as schools, orphanages and hospitals.
Verbo Ministries Cuenca began in 1987. After spending several years abroad in the US and Mexico respectively Boris Ordoñez and Luis Rojas returned to their home town of Cuenca. They were excited to share with others the salvation message of new life in Christ which they had received while away. Not finding a church which met with their expectations they began meeting in Boris’ home. They were soon joined by two missionary families, the Guidos and 2 years later the Capaldis. The church grew slowly but surely and during the past 9 years has been experiencing a outpouring of the Holy Spirit growing from 200 to over 1700. The work in Cuenca now includes; an active growing church, a hospital, a Christian school, an after school program for underprivileged children, a radio station and medical and community outreaches. The church in Cuenca has also planted churches in El Guabo, Manta, El Valle, Azogues and Naranjal Ecuador. |
