Family Health Foundation
The Fundación Hogar del Ecuador (Family Health Foundation) is a non-profit institution for health and social action in Cuenca, a city with a population of 417,632 (2001 Census Data) that is located in the Andes Mountains. We aim to rescue family unity, establishing health centers and counseling for underprivileged families that need assistance. For this social service we have a CENTRO MEDICO QUIRURGICO (CENTER FOR MEDICINE AND SURGERY), with several different specialties available for consultation.
OUR HISTORY
The Fundación Hogar del Ecuador was created on September 28, 1988 by a group of people with Christian motives to show the love of God to others, especially the unprotected and those lacking financial resources. It was legally recognized by the Ecuadorian government on July 28,1989 by the Ministry Agreement No. 00656. In that year a one-room doctor's office was opened, initially providing general medicine care and later offering consultations in Ophthalmology, Orthopedics and Physical Therapy. In 1996 the Center for Medicine and Surgery was opened thanks to the support of the INSTITUTO DE FORMACION SOCIAL (I.F.S.) who gave the Foundation the right to use the premises rent-free. Additional medical specialties such as Gynecology and ENT have been added since that time and are complemented by a pharmacy service. Generous people from the United States donated the medical equipment that allowed us to open surgical services and begin inpatient hospitalization.
MISSION / PHILOSOPHY
We are called to express the LOVE OF JESUS in all areas - including the physical, spiritual and social to the people who turn to us for our services, without discrimination with respect to age, nationality, race, religious belief or social status. In our joint brigades with North Americans, we especially strive to provide opportunities for Christians from both North and South America to work together in unity. Each patient receives our excellent medical care with dignity for every person as part of our commitment.
